Data Analyst (W2 Hourly Contract)

About the Role:

• Contract Length: 6 months (Full-time, W2) 
• Location: San Mateo, CA (On-site at least 3 days per week)
• Hourly Rate: $60-65/hour

Join our client's dynamic team and play a crucial role in shaping their internal content arm! As a Data Analyst focused on public data pipelines, you will curate public data from various sources (finance, economics, government, weather, and more) into scalable, high-quality products that empower our customers' analytics capabilities. Businesses across industries rely on this data, making your contribution essential.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor public data pipelines daily, swiftly identifying and resolving errors (formatting, source issues, duplicate data, etc.) to ensure data reliability for our Client's business operations.
• Thoroughly investigate errors by analyzing logs, GitHub repositories, provider websites, and SQL queries to pinpoint the root cause of issues.
• Engage with public data providers to address issues on their end, ensuring timely resolution and minimizing disruption.
• Proactively identify and implement enhancements to data pipelines, improving data integrity and reducing errors.
• Maintain strict SLAs (e.g., 4-hour response time) and strive for a 0% error rate daily.
• Actively participate in daily scrum meetings with the Data Engineering team.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Data Analysis, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or Data Quality Operations.

Required Skills:

• Advanced SQL proficiency (joins, subqueries, constraints, and daily use).
• Proven experience creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting data pipelines using Python and SQL, and leveraging tools like GitHub, dbt, Spark, or similar technologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work directly with customers to resolve data issues. A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to take initiative and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• A proven track record of consistently meeting SLAs and quality targets.

• Familiarity with Cloud and SaaS environments.
• Experience in or knowledge of the financial services industry or related domains is a plus.
