About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Consultant with expertise in Continuing Medical Education (CME) Accreditation. In this role, you will guide our team to develop a CME course that fully complies with all Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) requirements, allowing us to award CME credits. Success in this project requires in-depth knowledge of the ACCME accreditation process, standards, and necessary documentation. Familiarity with multiple sclerosis (MS) or neurology is a plus, but a comprehensive understanding of the CME accreditation process is essential.
SweetRush is a remote organization and as such all resources must: be technically savvy, have access to a strong internet signal, be comfortable with virtual/instant messaging and conferencing tools, and be generally available during established working hours.
The hourly Rate is negotiable.
Responsibilities:
- Lead CME Accreditation Strategy: Serve as the primary expert guiding the project through the ACCME accreditation process. Provide authoritative guidance on all compliance aspects, ensuring the course meets requirements for offering AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s).
- Ensure ACCME Compliance: Oversee and ensure all aspects of course planning, content development, delivery, and evaluation strictly adhere to ACCME Core Criteria and the Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education. This includes managing faculty disclosures, mitigating conflicts of interest, ensuring content validity and balance, and preventing commercial bias.
- Guide Educational Design for Compliance: Advise the content development team (which may include separate clinical SMEs) on structuring the course, defining learning objectives, and selecting educational formats that align with ACCME requirements and adult learning principles.
- Oversee CME Documentation & Reporting: Manage the collection and preparation of all documentation required for accreditation, including needs assessments, faculty disclosures, mitigation strategies, evaluation data, and reporting via the Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS) if applicable.
- Consult on Content Validity (from CME perspective): While deep MS knowledge isn't required of this role, the Consultant will review developed content to ensure it meets ACCME standards for being evidence-based, balanced, and free from bias.
- Potential Presentation Support: May assist with presenting the CME compliance aspects of the proposal or course, if needed.
Requirements:
- Proven CME Accreditation Expertise: Demonstrable, extensive, hands-on experience successfully guiding medical education activities through the ACCME accreditation process. A deep understanding of ACCME Core Criteria, policies, and the Standards for Integrity and Independence is mandatory.
- Experience with CME Documentation & Process: Proven ability to manage all required CME documentation, including needs assessment, learning objectives, disclosure collection/mitigation, evaluation, and potentially PARS reporting.
- Understanding of Educational Design Principles: Solid grasp of adult learning theory and instructional design principles as they apply to effective and compliant CME.
- Excellent Communication & Collaboration Skills: Ability to clearly communicate complex accreditation requirements to diverse teams (clinical SMEs, project managers, etc.) and collaborate effectively.
- Relevant Background: Experience typically gained through roles such as CME Director/Manager, Medical Education Specialist, or senior roles within accredited provider organizations or medical education companies.
- Must be available to work during the US time zones' business hours.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with Joint Providership: Specific experience managing CME activities under joint providership agreements.
- Familiarity with Neurology/Multiple Sclerosis Content: Previous experience working on CME programs in neurology or specifically MS is a plus, but not required.
- CHCP Certification: The Certified Healthcare CPD Professional (CHCP) credential is advantageous.
